Jim resides in Brooklyn NY, making records with many musical artists in and around the area. Highlights of recent projects include The National, Alexi Murdoch, Josh Ritter, Yellowbirds, Shearwater with Sharon Van Etten, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, The Deep Dark Woods, The Big Sleep, We Are Augustines, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, Slowdance, Au Revoir Simone and Caithlin De Marrais.
Jim is house engineer at Saltlands Studio and Homeward Sound. As an engineer, he’s well versed in both the digital and analog worlds. By recording so many projects to tape, Jim has refined a system of integrating tape within the session workflow while utilizing digital approaches. This allows for the sonic benefits of analog recording, while maintaining the flexibility provided by software.
