HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF KNITTING BEE
November 27, 2012 | 4pm – midnight | knitsandy@gmail.com
If you’ve ever knit a scarf in your life, then you have the skills to join the Knitting Bee. Do you have pre-knit squares? Feel free to drop them off at the event. We’re already expecting mail-ins from different parts of the country. Visit the Sandy Relief Knitting Bee page on Facebook. Coats will also be accepted for New York Cares Coat Drive.
SALTLANDS STUDIO DROP-OFF SITE
November 27, 2012 | 11am- midnight| to Studio – 68 Jay Street, BASEMENT, Brooklyn, NY 11201
If you don’t have knitting chops, please drop off other donations at Saltlands on Nov. 27 between 11am and midnight. Any drop-off donations will be given to Smallwater (96th Street Relief Center). We’re working directly with Neanna Bodycomb and Holly Butler of Rockaway Renegades. Neanna is also organizing on the frontlines with Smallwater.
Used laptops and 3G/4G capable cell phones are needed as volunteers canvas the Rockaway neighborhood door-to-door, creating a database of those needing medical treatment and regular care (i.e. pregnant women, the elderly, those with medicinal needs, etc).
